Skin Tightening

Skin tightening is a non-invasive treatment that uses technologies like radiofrequency, ultrasound, or laser to stimulate collagen production and improve skin firmness. This helps reduce sagging and wrinkles, resulting in smoother, tighter skin over time.

How you prepare

Before your laser resurfacing, a member of your healthcare team:

Asks about your medical history

Be prepared to answer questions about current and past medical conditions and any medicines you are taking or have recently taken. You also might be asked about previous cosmetic procedures you’ve had and how you react to sun exposure. For example, do you burn easily? Rarely?

Does a physical exam

A physical exam before skin tightening evaluates your skin’s condition, elasticity, and any underlying issues to ensure the treatment is safe and suitable. It helps the provider customize the procedure for the best results based on your individual skin type and concerns.

Reviews your expectations

Before the procedure, your provider reviews your expectations to ensure you understand the treatment process, expected results, number of sessions, possible side effects, aftercare, and timing between sessions. This helps set realistic goals and ensures you’re comfortable with the plan.

What you can expect

During the treatment, you may feel warmth or mild discomfort as energy is delivered to the skin. Aftercare involves avoiding sun exposure and keeping the skin moisturized. Results typically appear gradually over several weeks as collagen rebuilds. Multiple sessions—usually 4 to 6—are needed for optimal tightening. Possible side effects include redness, swelling, or slight tenderness, which usually resolve quickly.
