The Power of Post-Treatment Aftercare
Post-Treatment Aftercare Tips
-
Follow All Provider Instructions
Always adhere to the aftercare plan provided by your clinician. It’s customized to your treatment and vital for proper healing. -
Avoid Sun Exposure
Protect your skin from direct sunlight. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily to prevent hyperpigmentation and irritation. -
Keep the Treated Area Clean and Hydrated
Use a gentle cleanser and apply a fragrance-free, hydrating moisturizer as recommended. Avoid active ingredients like retinol or acids unless advised. -
Do Not Resume Your Regular Skincare Routine Immediately
Avoid using your usual skincare products—including exfoliants, serums, and actives—for 5 to 7 days or until your provider advises it’s safe to do so. -
Skip Heat and Sweating
Avoid saunas, hot showers, intense workouts, and steam rooms for at least 24–48 hours, or as directed. -
Do Not Pick, Scratch, or Touch the Treated Area
Let your skin heal naturally. Picking can lead to scarring, infection, or delayed recovery. -
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water to support skin healing from the inside out. -
Watch for Unusual Reactions
Mild redness or swelling is normal, but contact your provider if you experience intense pain, prolonged redness, or signs of infection. -
Avoid Makeup Temporarily
Depending on the procedure, skip makeup for 24–48 hours to avoid clogging pores and irritating sensitive skin. -
Schedule Your Follow-Up
Don’t skip post-treatment check-ins—they allow your provider to monitor healing and adjust your care plan if needed. -
Be Patient With Results
Some treatments take days or weeks to show full results. Proper aftercare ensures they last longer and look better.
